“From Fay’s methodology, I learned to use my intuition and lived experiences in myriad new ways.” —Winston Duke, actor, Black Panther, Avengers, Us, and Nine Days Engaging Mind and Body to Develop the Complete Physical Nature of Characters Actors are shape-shifters, requiring the tools to wade into unfamiliar waters and back out again. The Lucid Body offers a holistic, somatic approach to embodying character from the inside-out and, for the non-actor, offers a way to give hidden parts of the self their full expression. By identifying stagnant movement patterns, this process expands one’s emotional and physical range and enables the creation of characters from all walks of life—however cruel, desolate, or jolly. Rooted in the exploration of the seven chakra energy centers, The Lucid Body reveals how each body holds the possibility of every human condition. Readers will learn how to: Practice a non-judgmental approach to the journey of self-awareness Break up stagnant and restrictive patterns of thought and movement Allow an audible exhale to be the key to unlocking the breath Develop a mindset to “hear” one’s inner body Analyze the human condition through the psycho-physical lens of the chakras Experience the safety of coming back to a neutral body Acquire a sense of clarity and calm in one’s everyday life A step-by-step program guides the actor through the phases of self-awareness that expand emotional and physical range not only on stage, but also in daily life. This new edition includes a more diversified range of playwrights, non-binary language, and new chapters on stage intimacy protocol and physical listening. Exercises that have been honed for the past ten years have been made more concise. New somatic and neuro-scientific data has been added, with additional wisdom and insights from colleagues and Simpson's team of Lucid Body teachers.

How to induce a safe, controlled out-of-body experience using physical and mental methods. Astral projection, the ability to “leave the body” at will, is a phenomenon that has long fascinated both the scientific world and the general public. If you have been curious about this strange power and are now ready to take your curiosity one step further, here is a complete guide to eight genuine methods that have been proven to induce out-of-body experiences. In plain, straightforward language, this realistic guide explains the techniques and potential applications of astral projection through dynamic concentration, progressive muscular relaxation, dietary control, guided imagery, and others.

THE LUCID DREAM MANIFESTO is a reprint of the original manuscript of: LUCID DREAMS, DREAMS AND SLEEP: THEORETICAL CONSTRUCTIONS published by the University of South Dakota Media Press, 1974. This thesis was one of the first books dedicated to exploring lucid dreams (dreams wherein you realize you are dreaming) within the larger context of dreams and sleep. A general and original theory of sleep and dreams is outlined as a context within which to understand lucid dreams as a natural extension of these mechanisms rather than an exceptional event experienced only by "gifted" individuals. From theory to praxis, the book offers practical experiments to train the novice in becoming aware in dreams. The original treatise was selected for Dick McLeester's WELCOME TO THE MAGIC THEATRE: A HANDBOOK FOR EXPLORING DREAMS, 1976, a reference book that THE VILLAGE VOICE called "one of the best introductions to the sleepy third of your life that we've ever seen."

Modern thought and modes of living have been immeasurably influenced by the philosophers of the Enlightenment—men such as Descartes, Hobbes, Spinoza, Newton, Leibniz, and Locke. Gathered together in this book and preceded by valuable biographical sketches are selections from the basic and most significant writings of each of these men.

Between the Gates is a manual of self-initiation and liberation that takes the student through the basic methods of experiencing dream states and conscious astral projection, to the ultimate culmination of consciousness--creation of the Body of Light. Between the Gates is for anyone who has ever desired to experience the "afterlife" while still alive, or who has desired to rid themselves of the fear of death. While drawing upon traditional Qabalistic and alchemical sources, the methods presented are applicable to a variety of traditions and schools of thought. Between the Gates functions as an "A to Z" guide to psychic initiation toward higher consciousness, and ultimately, to preparation for the great transition beyond this life and this physical body.

The year 2012 marked the centenary of one of the most significant discoveries of the early twentieth century, the discovery of X-ray diffraction (March 1912, by Laue, Friedrich and Knipping) and of Bragg's law (November 1912). The discovery of X-ray diffraction confirmed the wave nature of X-rays and the space-lattice hypothesis. It had two major consequences: the analysis of the structure of atoms, and the determination of the atomic structure of materials. This had a momentous impact in chemistry, physics, mineralogy, material science, biology and X-ray spectroscopy. The book relates the discovery itself, the early days of X-ray crystallography, and the way the news of the discovery spread round the world. It explains how the first crystal structures were determined by William Bragg and his son Lawrence, and recounts which were the early applications of X-ray crystallography in chemistry, mineralogy, materials science, physics, biological sciences and X-ray spectroscopy. It also tells how the concept of space lattice developed since ancient times up to the nineteenth century, and how our conception of the nature of light has changed over time. The contributions of the main actors of the story, prior to the discovery, at the time of the discovery and immediately afterwards, are described through their writings and are put into the context of the time, accompanied by brief biographical details. This thoroughly researched account on the multiple faces of a scientific specialty, X-ray crystallography, is aimed both at the scientists, who rarely subject the historical material of past discoveries in their field to particular scrutiny with regard to the historical details and at the historians of science who often lack the required expert knowledge to scrutinize the involved technical content in sufficient depth (M. Eckert - Metascience).
